Climate Resilience Ambassadors: Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR)
In response to climate change and environmental degradation, TEWA trains women as climate resilience ambassadors in the principles of Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR). This program equips women with skills to restore degraded lands, enhance soil fertility, and increase biodiversity through sustainable land management techniques. By fostering community-based knowledge-sharing, women become catalysts for environmental regeneration, promoting food security, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience.
Women in Land Rights Advocacy
TEWA empowers women as land rights advocates, creating a platform for women land defenders to voice their concerns and protect their communities against issues like land grabbing and environmental degradation. Through advocacy campaigns, TEWA raises awareness of these challenges, strengthens collective efforts, and ensures women are recognized as leaders in environmental and land rights.
Creating Opportunities, Building Livelihoods
TEWA empowers women through sustainable weaving as a means of improving livelihoods and conserving the environment. The initiative seeks to reduce women's dependence on wetlands for papyrus harvesting by promoting alternative, eco-friendly weaving materials such as pine tree leaves, recycled polythene papers and basket rolls. Women are trained to produce quality woven products for sale, generating income to support their households. Through collective production and marketing, surplus earnings can also be saved to strengthen women's financial security, grow their enterprises and improve their socioeconomic wellbeing.
Advocacy for Women in Development Sectors
Lifting Women's Voices, Driving Change: TEWA is a staunch advocate for increased women's participation in various development sectors. Our advocacy services include lobbying for policy changes, promoting gender-sensitive practices, and fostering partnerships that create opportunities for women.
